There is also an option for fast charging that can make the batteries reach 80 percent charge in two hours, thirty-six minutes.
The Tiago EV is driven by a motor that has the capability to produce a power of 60 kW, which translates to quite energetic performance. It also features a tech-laden interior with some of the options being a touch screen infotainment system and integrated connectivity with smartphone devices. The Tiago EV is expected to be a reality when it is launched as a practical and affordable EV in the Indian market.
MG Comet EV
Another one from the value-for-money EV segment expected to come in 2024 is the MG Comet, which may cost around ₹6.98 lakh, ex-showroom. This hatchback EV will be targeted at young car buyers aspiring to own an electric car to retire their current vehicles, MG Motor, a British carmaker owned by the SAIC.
On a full charge, the 41kW Comet EV can provide up to approximately 200-230km driving range, which seems reasonable for urban commuting. With the AC charger, the battery pack recharging from the 0-100% will take approximately 7.5 hours. Some of the features likely to be featured in the Comet MG include premium looks, adequate cabin space, and MG smart car solutions.
Strom Motors R3 EV
Kolkata based Strom Motors is a start up that has planned to launch its first product in the form of a compact electric vehicle called the R3 hatchback in the year 2024 at an ex showroom price of ₹ 4.50 lakhs. Built specifically with the urban roads environment in mind, Strom R3 does come with key features such as a 200 km practical range per charge which is suitable for city use only.
It can even power completely from 0 to 100% in just 3 hours when using fast charging. Driving the R3 EV is a 20kW electric motor which enables the car to accelerate to a top speed of around 80 km/h. As for the consumer, the R3 has affordable prices and sufficient range to attract budget-conscious urban buyers who are ready to embrace the EV lifestyle.
PMV EaS EV
Other Indian born start-up PMV Electric is all set to unveil the distinctly styled EaS-E EV in 2024 with an anticipated ex-showroom price of ₹ 4.79 lakhs. The four-seater, four-doors EaS-E can provide driving range of approximately 160 km per charge while fully charged. There are no clear guidelines on charging duration and other specifics yet.
The raw power of this budget EV is derived from a 13kW electric motor that comes with a top speed capability of 70kmph; perfect for urban use. As per the EaS E, there are some of the elements which have been retained and which include digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen system, keyless entry, cornering lamps among others. When the model arrives, the EaS E is aimed at personal mobility and fits a new segment of e-mobility customers with its low price.
